Newsletter

In the early days of the Society, a newsletter was circulated to members that shared information and literature about all things related to court studies. Excitingly the newsletter was the foundation for what became the Society’s journal, The Court Historian.

With the Society for Court Studies’ growth and the ever-changing field of court studies, there is an increasing need for the latest information, to cultivate scholarly connections, to support the research community in the field of court studies, as well as have regular communication about the Society’s developments. Thus, in 2021, the newsletter was re-launched by the Society. The newletter is circulated quarterly to members. Overseen by the new European branch, the newsletter features news and announcements about the Society, information about international scholarly events pertaining to court studies, and highlights what is happening in the world of court studies. The newsletter also welcomes short essays and pieces that showcase new discoveries or research, or response articles.

The newsletter is produced quarterly:

  • Winter (January/February)
  • Spring (April/May)
  • Autumn (September/October)

We are currently seeking contributors to write various pieces for the newsletter, including opinion editorials related to topics and research within the field of court studies or response pieces of articles published in The Court Historian. These pieces should be no more than 1000 words max. If you are interested in contributing, please send an email to the newsletter team at the email below.

The newsletter is circulated to members via email. Past newsletters are archived in the members section of the website, which can be found here.

To submit materials or to discuss submissions for the newsletter, send queries to the Newsletter Team via the European branch at

The deadline for materials to be included in the 2024 Spring issue of the newsletter is: 15 April 2024.
